The arrangements are elaborate and the voice of the frontwoman, named Alma after the original mother that founded the cult, creates a lot of dramatic tension. Da ist sie, die neue Scheibe der Power Maxen aus Leipzig. The split is the shoegazeing bastard offspring of Neurosis and Fall Of Efrafa, with the influential cousin Converge adding a slight discordancy of the tunes.
Usually themed after the lyrical content which deal with all sorts of putrid sleaze with gusto, Abscess style sordid filth. Finally a new record from this awesome band from Cleveland! Two very good bands you have to support! Didn't expect to get anuus at all, so this album was a really excellent surprise, one of the most exhilarating records I've heard in a while and exactly what I needed to hear right now.
Anyhow, I'm still amazed to actually have such an LP in my hands.
They might be a disgusting band but the way they deal with serial murder through a more philosophical approach is pretty fascinating, a lot of the reasons behind the band's inspirations are discussed. Percussion-wise this is an absolute tour-de-force, perfect technique, perfect sound This stuff almost brings a tear to my eye. VAT, shipping costs apply.
